How I became a morning person!

I like to think of myself as a morning person. Most of the days I have set my alarm clock at 5 AM or 5:30 . If i’m tired or without anything important to do, I get off the bed around 6:00. Even in week-ends or in my days off, I wake up at 7:00, 8:00 at most ( unless I went to sleep very, very late like three or four in the morning).

My co-workers and my friends see me as a crazy person when I tell them my wake up hours. Truth be told, I see the sleeping activity as a nuisance and I thought of ways to shorten it to the minimum possible. Of course, I understand the necessity of sleep, but that doesn’t mean I like it so much like many people do. I sleep only because my body and my mind needs it.

I always waked up early in the morning as a kid. School started at 8, so I had to get up around 7:00 to get ready. In my last two years of high school I had days when school started at 7:00 AM. Yes, at 7:00 AM!!! So I had to wake up at 6:00 to have enough time to fresh myself up, eat a breakfast and reach school in time.

Growing up I started to enjoy waking up in the morning. Drinking a nice cup of tea while you watch the sun rising up it’s an image you can get only if you wake up before the sun rise.

Waking up in the morning is a so established habit, that I feel that my day is not complete if I wake up later that 6 o’clock during the week.

I spend most of the time between 5 and 7 reading, writing, sometimes doing some exercises or meditating. I want to establish a proper morning ritual, but I have to admit that i lack some self-discipline in this area.

I understand that some people don’t like to wake up in at this hour like I do. But, for me waking up in the morning is a pleasure, one of the little joys of life. And I will always try to wake up in the very morning to start my day as soon as possible.
